Arthur M. Nezu, PhD, DHL, ABPP, Lab Co-Director
Dr. Art Nezu is Distinguished University Professor of Psychology, Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Community Health & Prevention at Drexel University. At the end of 2018, he will finish his role as Associate Editor for the American Psychologist and as of January 2019, he will become Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice. Dr. Nezu is past Editor of both the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and the Behavior Therapist, as well as past Associate Editor for the Archives of Scientific Psychology. He has served as a Consulting Editor for numerous additional journals and was Chair of the Council of Editors of the American Psychological Association (APA). He is currently Series Editor for APA's book series, Concise Guides to Research in the Behavioral, Health, and Social Sciences. Dr. Nezu has been a member of several NIH grant review committees, as well as a member of the NIMH study section on interventions for mood disorders. He is an elected Fellow of multiple professional associations and is board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in behavioral and cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, and clinical health psychology. He has received numerous awards from universities and professional organizations, including the Florence Halpern Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession of Clinical Psychology by the Society of Clinical Psychology and ABPP's Distinguished Contributions to the Profession of Psychology Award. Dr. Nezu has also received an Honorary Doctoral Degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for his lifetime of achievements. Based on his efforts to promote multiculturalism, ABPP created an annual award in his honor for an outstanding doctoral dissertation in the area of diversity. Dr. Nezu is best known for his work as the co-developer of (Emotion-Centered) Problem-Solving Therapy and co-author of the Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised. He was a member of the working group that developed the revised Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS) for Quantitative Research, as well as the task force for revising the 7th edition of the APA Publication Manual. He is currently a member of APA's expert panel to develop Clinical Practice Guidelines for the treatment of depression, and a previous member of the international consensus panel to develop the CONSORT guidelines for Social and Psychological Interventions. Dr. Nezu has served as a consultant to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Air Force. He was previously president of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the American Board of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology, and the World Congress of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies. He was a Board Trustee and Secretary for ABPP. His research and program development activities has been funded by the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Mental Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, and the Pew Charities Trusts. He has held an honorary professorship at the University of Nottingham in the U.K., as well as serving as a visiting professor for the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Nezu has published 23 books and over 225 journal articles and book chapters on a wide variety of topics including stress and coping, depression, research methodology, obesity, psycho-oncology, behavioral medicine, case formulation, cognitive and behavioral therapies, diversity, behavioral cardiology, sex offender treatment, intellectual disabilities, and suicide. Many of his writings have been translated into various foreign languages. He has given hundreds of papers, workshops, and invited addresses around the world. Dr. Nezu's current research focuses on the prevention and treatment of suicide. He is currently co-director of New Beginnings, a community-based skills training program for veterans at risk of suicide. Dr. Nezu loves mystery novels, traveling, art museums, the opera, fine dining, movies, football, and spending time with his family (including two cats).

Christine Maguth Nezu, PhD, ABPP, Lab Co-Director
Chris Maguth Nezu, PhD, ABPP, is Professor of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Professor of Medicine in Drexel’s College of Medicine. She has maintained a private practice as a licensed psychologist for nearly 30 years and is board-certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in clinical, as well as cognitive & behavioral psychology. Dr. Maguth Nezu has also served as a Program Consultant to the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington DC and a Program Consultant for the Joint Programs of the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense. She is past President of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology, the Academy of Clinical Psychology, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She is the recipient of numerous grant awards supporting her research and program development, particularly in the area of clinical interventions, and her psychotherapy work has been featured in the Systems in Psychotherapy Series published by the American Psychological Association (APA). Dr. Maguth Nezu has contributed to over 175 scholarly publications, including 16 books and co-editor of several distinguished book series. Her publications cover a wide range of topics in mental health and behavioral medicine, many of which have been translated into a variety of foreign languages. She is considered an international expert regarding cognitive behavioral assessment and treatment, most notably Emotion-Centered Problem-Solving Therapy (EC-PST), an evidenced-based transdiagnostic intervention. Her areas of expertise cover many clinical populations, including adults, couples, and families, as well as individuals with intellectual disabilities and comorbid adaptive, mood, and behavior disorders. Dr. Nezu's awards include recognition from the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies for Outstanding Contributions in Education/Training. When she is not engaged in professional psychology teaching, clinical supervision, or research, she can be found on, in or near the ocean with her family.
